The second wave of global PDH expansion is underway
Report summary
Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) deployment has evolved from a relatively niche technology to a significant disruptor of global propylene supply. The key drivers and enablers for implementation of PDH technology are access to propane feedstock and access to downstream propylene consumption. Whilst developments are taking place in many regions, the epicente by far is China. This insight explores how PDH has grown from 2010 to the current position and its future evolution to 2050. The overall global perspective and each key region is analysed. The insight also addresses how China is expected to meet its future propane net import needs and the overall competitiveness of the PDH route in the global propylene cost curve.
